SUOMENMAA MAGAZINE
I worked from 2021 to 2023 as a graphic designer and layout designer in Suomenmaa magazine. I also took a lot of pictures, some of them even got to the cover of magazine, like the red photo on the left.
I designed a magazine layout for the print monthly. I had a privilege to work with amazing team of journalist collegues and an editorial chiefs. We planned many visual solutions together with journalists, but still I feel I had quite free hands with the layout design. In addition to this freedom, I also had a great deal of responsibility as I managed the magazine's visual side from a first draft page to sending it to the print.
I learned so much about working in publishing, deepened my knowledge of journalism and gladly got many opportunities to take pictures for the magazine, even some cover photos. I'm happy I was getting regularly constructive feedback of my work and not least because of that, I gained a lot more experience in layout design and my visual eye got trained.
Suomenmaa paper magazine was published monthly until 12/2023 when Suomenmaa transitioned exclusively into online media.
