Hello!

My name is Saara Savusalo, professional graphic designer.
I graduated from Oulu University of Applied Science in 2020 (Bachelor of Media, Visual Design) and have been working since as a graphic designer / layout designer in magazines and assiciations while doing freelance gigs. I've been also studying in Lapland University of Applied Science, and Birmingham City University.

My work as focused last 7 years mostly working in magazines, but other than that, I've been doing a lot of brochure and poster design, illustrations for museums and publishings, social media material for festivals and other events. I also love to do branding. I've created brand identities for festivals, organizations and firms.

I have a warm friendship with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. I have also been getting to get known with Adobe After Effects when doing marketing videos and animations YLE for educational games Emma1234 and Emma1234 vol. 2.

How did I became a graphic designer?

I started my media career when I was 16 and started to work part time in local radio station as a assistant on weekends. Then I started to work in local news papers part time, at some point I was working on 3 different magazines (Lapin Kansa, Lappilainen and Kippis!). I wrote articles, gallups and columns and also took photos, made illustrations and comics. Those years for sure pathed my way to the graphic design world, as after the upper secondary school I applied to Oulu University of Applied Science to Visual Design studies.

During the studies I reached every opportunity I had to get "real" project jobs. I got to design for example a visual consept for a student magazine, marketing materials and illustrations for theater group and many many other event posters.

Even when working full time I've been doing freelance projects time to time, as I really love to reconnect with old customers and get to meet new ones.

So if you think I could be the one you'd like to work with,
please don't hesitate to contact me!
